Aidan Bassett

My name is Aidan Bassett, I’m a recent graduate of UC Berkeley, and I’ve been tutoring elementary through high school students in math, writing, French, and SAT prep for the past four years. Growing up on both the East and West Coasts, I’ve had plenty of different teachers (some great and some less great), and I’ve always found I learned best when I felt like a teacher cared about me personally. I like to let students follow their curiosity, and I believe it’s easier to learn when you feel free to ask any question — even ones that might be a little tangential — since curiosity fuels a love of learning.

Currently, I work as a data systems coordinator at the Santa Barbara Public Defender’s Office as an AmeriCorps member. Previously, I worked as a college admissions consultant, SAT tutor, and writing tutor, and I’ve even taught English in France. I scored in the 99th percentile when I first took the SAT, and I’ve loved helping students crack the SAT code ever since. I also love history, government, and economics, which I studied in college, and I’d be excited to work with students on any of these topics, and more! In my free time, I enjoy reading, running, hiking, learning about our environment, and listening to show tunes.
