Educational & Intellectual Testing
Are your child’s grades inconsistent?
Do your child’s grades seem too low for the amount of effort he/she puts towards school work?
Does your child seem to have significant difficulty maintaining consistent focus in school?
Does your child seem to have difficulty making and keeping friends?
Do you want to help your child feel better about himself/herself?
All of these are great reasons to get your child evaluated by our clinical psychologist, Dr. Kati Guada. Imagine how good it would feel to know you are putting together a useful plan for how to successfully tackle the upcoming school
year. With all of the extra time, summer is a great time to work on any difficulties that cause you and your child stress!
Evaluations are used to get a deeper understanding of what is causing a child difficulty. Testing takes an average of four to six hours and begins with a one-hour parent interview. During this interview, Dr. Guada gets a strong understanding of the concerns as well as any relevant history. Dr. Guada will then recommend the tests that would benefit your child. These tests may include an IQ test, an achievement test, and/or an emotional and behavioral screener. When testing is completed, Dr. Guada writes a report that details the test results and makes recommendations. An IEP or specific accommodations are often recommended for student’s struggling in the school setting, and Dr. Guada often accompanies parents to meetings with school staff to discuss their child’s test results. Other times, weekly therapy is recommended in order to improve a problematic behavior or thinking pattern or in order for a child to learn social skills and decrease their social anxiety. Regardless of why your child might need testing, feel free to call with any questions or for a free consultation.
