What Is the Format of the ACT?

The ACT is a college admissions test designed to measure a student’s readiness for college-level coursework. The exam focuses on English, Math, and Reading, with optional Science and Writing sections available for students who wish to take them. Colleges accept both ACT and SAT scores, and neither test is preferred over the other.

How Our ACT Prep Program Works

 

Step 1: Take a Free Practice ACT and SAT

The first step is determining which test is the better fit.  Students complete both a free practice ACT and SAT so we can establish baseline scores, identify strengths and weaknesses, and compare performance on each exam. Following the tests, we provide a detailed score report and a free consultation to discuss results and recommendations.

Step 2: Meet With a Test Prep Specialist

One of our Test Prep Specialists will review the results with your family, discuss your student’s goals, upcoming test dates, extracurricular commitments, and college plans, and recommend the best path forward.

Step 3: Get Matched With the Right Tutor

We carefully match each student with a tutor based on personality, learning style, academic strengths and weaknesses, and scheduling needs.

Step 4: Begin a Customized ACT Prep Program

Each lesson is individualized and focuses on the areas that will have the greatest impact on score improvement. Students learn content, strategies, pacing techniques, and time management skills while completing homework assignments and practice tests between sessions.

Step 5: Track Progress and Build Confidence

Throughout the program, students complete additional practice tests and targeted assignments while parents receive regular updates. As students see their scores improve, they gain the confidence needed to walk into test day prepared and ready to succeed.
