Music creates memories, moves people,
and makes people happy.
Why is Music Important?
It teaches students a sense of responsibility.
Practicing music teaches students discipline, time management, and responsibility. They have to learn that it takes time to practice and devote to their instrument to really excel at it. Many times they will be part of a music group at school or with their friends and will have to plan time to make sure they’re prepared to perform with their group.
They will be learning a new language.
When learning music, students need to learn theory, notation, rhythm, how to read music, and maybe even how to write music. There are many components that are involved and this is equivalent to learning a new, creative language.
It improves academic achievement.
Studies have shown that children that play music have improved grades at school, especially in math. There are many patterns to learn when playing music and math also has the same type of patterns. Students will be more focused and more prone to be driven and motivated learners.
It promotes creativity.
A lot of children need an outlet to express themselves and some children tend to get in trouble because they can’t find the outlet that they need. By playing an instrument of their choice, they will be able to explore their creative side and learn to read and write music.
It reduces stress.
What better way to handle stress and anxiety than to play a musical instrument?! Studies have shown that students that enroll in music lessons are more relaxed and it help them reduce their stress levels. Playing music reduces burnout and increases student’s mood.
