5 Simple Ways to Raise Your ACT/SAT Score
Achieving a solid score on the ACT or SAT standardized exam will make getting into the college of your choice much easier. Rather than relegate yourself into staying with a less than desirable score, there are things you can do to raise that score to where you need it. If you do these five things below, you can take the test with plenty of confidence next time around.
Use What You Learned the First Time Around
So you weren’t happy with your last score for the ACT or SAT. It happens. But use this information to your advantage. You received a detailed breakdown of which areas of the exam you did best in and which ones you did poorly in. Now you should realize what topics you need to study more. After all, it is not a disgrace to struggle with something. However, you should be able to learn a thing or two with failure.
Start Studying a Couple of Months in Advance
If you are serious about earning a better score, don’t wait until the last couple of weeks to study. Develop a study plan that will hold you accountable. For instance, every other day you could study for two hours during your free time. Every other day is enough to keep you on task but not overwhelm you or make you feel like you aren’t living life at the moment.
Seek Out a Professional Tutor for the Exam
There are plenty of tutors to choose from out there. Just on the block you live on, a person is offering their tutoring services is a good chance. But don’t be fooled for a second. Not all tutors are created equal.
Luckily, iAchieve has you covered. We offer professional tutors for these exams both online and in person. They specialize in this field and will provide you the ultimate tutoring for either the ACT or SAT. It will make a world of difference preparing for these exams with someone that knows these tests inside-out.
Use Process of Elimination During the Exam
There are difficult questions on these tests. There is no denying this. It is not uncommon to struggle with determining the correct answer. However, by figuring out which provided answers are not correct, you can better your chances.
As an example, the ACT has five answer choices for each question. Usually, one or two of these choices can be eliminated quickly as they are not anywhere close to the correct answer. If you can narrow it down to four choices, you have a 25 percent chance of getting the problem right. If you can narrow it down to three options, you have one-third of an opportunity to get it correct. Just because you automatically don’t know the right answer off the bat, don’t admit defeat and surrender.
Take Practice Exams Online
With the amount of technology available at our fingertips, it would be a shame not to take advantage of it when preparing for one of these standardized exams. There are plenty of practice exams available online to have your test graded and provide you the score instantly. By taking these practice exams, you are essentially getting to know approximately what you will score before you even retake the official exam.
