Seniors: How to Complete Your Final Year of High School the Right Way
For seniors just starting their final year in high school, it is not all about just coasting until graduation. There needs to be a game plan in place to ensure you are completing everything that needs to be done before you walk out on that stage to pick up your hard-earned diploma.
Consider this a checklist to follow before the big day. Of course, there may be other things you would like to add to the list, such as finding a date for homecoming, but this is a good start!
Earn a Top Score on the ACT or SAT
You must do this early in your senior year if you haven’t already done this in your junior year. In fact, it won’t hurt to take either test one more time to see if you can do a little better this time around. Those extra few points could make all the difference in being accepted into your dream school.
Rather than try studying every subject randomly in preparation for the standardized exam, prepare the smart way. Here at iAchieve, we offer test prep packages for either exam that will ensure you are walking in those doors on test day fully prepared.
The package includes one-on-one tutoring, special preparation considering the student’s needs, access to our online database with 1,500 example questions, custom quizzes, practice tests with analysis of the scores, and more. The test prep package will focus your studying on all the areas that are needed.
Determine Your Plans After High School
There are questions that need to be answered during your final year.
- Are you going to college, and have you nailed down the school you are enrolling in?
- Are you joining the workforce straight out of high school?
- Would you like to become an apprentice and learn a trade without having to pay a dime and possibly earn money while doing it?
- Are you still going to be living at home?
- Would you want to start your own business?
- Are you considering joining the military?
These are all options that need to be considered. Depending upon the student, one or two may jump out at them more than the rest.
Finish Strong in the Classroom
Senioritis is a real thing. Don’t coast so much that your grade point average lowers during your senior year. Don’t think for a second that you won’t have to repeat your senior year if you bomb this one.
This is your last go-around with these teachers. Finish strong and make your teachers and parents proud. Earn your best scores and graduate on a high note.
Spend Time with Your Friends
You may hate to think this, but this will be the last time you see some of your high school friends. Make sure you tell them how much you have enjoyed your time with them over the years. Spend time with them this year. It could be your last chance before everyone goes their separate ways.
