Sarah Kochan is the Founder of iAchieve Learning and is extremely passionate about helping others learn and grow. Her passion of education and music led her to start iAchieve Learning in July of 2014 while also teaching full-time as a high school Mathematics Teacher.
Sarah has lived in the Chicagoland area her entire life and started playing piano at the age of 7. Music quickly became her entire existence and she continued taking formal lessons until the age of 22. Throughout that time, she participated in many music recitals and competitions, was the accompanist for all choir groups all 4 years in high school and then decided to major in both Music Education and Music Business and earned a music scholarship to Elmhurst College. At the age of 15, Sarah performed all three movements of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata at her last recital with her first piano teacher of 8 years.
After being in the music program at Elmhurst College for about 2.5 years, Sarah decided to make a quick decision to major in Mathematics and keep music as a hobby. “This was honestly one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make but was best at that time. I was literally taking high level Math classes for fun! Why not teach math to students?” Sarah graduated from Elmhurst College in 2006 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and her Secondary Education teaching certificate. Right before graduation, she accepted a full-time position in District 207 as a high school Mathematics Teacher. Shortly thereafter, Sarah started her graduate work in Mathematics and earned her Master’s Degree in Mathematics in 2009. While teaching full-time, Sarah decided to start tutoring students after school and didn’t realize how much she would come to love doing so. The phone calls for tutoring wouldn’t stop and she sadly had to start turning students away because she could not handle the load on her own. In 2013, Sarah started to create iAchieve Learning which only offered one educational service, tutoring. By 2019, iAchieve Learning has grown to offer 7 different educational services, has around 25 tutors, music instructors and specialists and services over 14 of the northwest suburbs of the Chicagoland area. Sarah runs the business full-time but also specializes in tutoring students in high school level math and ACT/SAT test prep.
When Sarah’s not working, she enjoys spending time with family, friends and her boxer dog Halen. She is also involved in health and fitness and makes this an important part of her life. Sarah became a certified aerobics instructor at the age of 18 and led many aerobics classes. Running has also been a large part of her life and she ran ten half-marathons, five 50-mile relay races and many 5k races. Sarah is also a Business Coach for female entrepreneurs who want to create an online business.
