Don’t Be Fooled: Take the ACT or SAT Standardized Test

Although there are some places of higher learning that are not requiring prospective students to take either the ACT or SAT, don’t be so quick to forgo either standardized test. 

 

According to the Wall Street Journal, 1.7 million high school students from the class of 2022 have already taken the SAT alone. This is 200,000 more students who took the SAT last year. 

 

If a standardized test is no longer a requirement for colleges, why are more high school students taking it?

There is quite a lot of competition at top universities and colleges for hopeful freshmen. With students trying to outdo one another to gain entrance, the brighter students still realize that a high score on either standardized test, the ACT or SAT, will go a long way in persuading the college acceptance board. 

 

It seems that in education, whenever a teacher or a school, in general, says a requirement is optional, it is always best to cover your bases and complete that requirement.

 

Competition for Scholarships and Loans

Even with higher student loan interest, as the federal government has increased rates more this July than at any time in the last ten years, most students need financial assistance for college and will be seeking out loans. 

 

According to the latest statistics, 70 percent of college students who graduate with a bachelor’s degree will have debt. If there is a chance that a solid standardized test score will gain that student a partial scholarship, full scholarship, or a grant of some sort, then it would be wise to take either exam. How to Earn a High Score

While you can take the ACT or SAT a number of times and hope for the best, the ultimate strategy is to prepare for it ahead of time before you ever even take the exam once.
