Now Is the Time to Focus on the ACT/SAT
With summer underway and the COVID quarantine still partially in place for much of the country, a teenager’s opportunities for summer fun these next few months are drastically limited. For instance, in the area where I live, all public pools are closed for the summer, and all the restaurants and similar eateries are only allowing outside seating. Social distancing is still in place, and masks are required in most public areas. But if you are a teenager or a parent of one, you can always take lemons and make lemonade.
With a restricted summer schedule that offers plenty of free time, teenagers can take this opportunity to prepare for their standardized test of choosing, the ACT or SAT. After all, with one excellent score, a considerable portion of college could be paid. Who wouldn’t want to know their bills are taken care of as they enter into four of the most expensive years of their life?
How to Properly Focus on the ACT or SAT
There are several ways to get the laser-like focus; you will need to achieve a high score during this time. Rather than winging it as you proceed toward the testing date, these are some of the things to concentrate on.
Choose Which Exam to Take
There are little differences between the ACT and SAT that you must be aware of. Your goal is to earn the highest score you can, so choose which test corresponds with your strengths. For example, the ACT has a Science section on the test, while the SAT technically does not. If you want to know about all the significant differences, go back through some of iAchieve’s blogs for a full rundown.
Take the Practice Assessments Online
When I took the ACT back in my day, there were no practice tests online. We were given a few practice questions on a piece of paper and told to study them and get used to this style of multiple-choice questions. Nowadays, you can find a few practice assessments for either test in seconds by just completing a simple Google search. Plus, you can take these practice tests entirely online and have your score in hand almost instantly.
Find a Tutor that Specializes with the ACT or SAT
There is perhaps not a better way to prepare than having a tutor who knows either of these exams like the back of their hand. They can provide the little tips here and there to gain the needed points to push your score over the top. Furthermore, they can walk you through the day of the exam and inform you precisely what to expect. Luckily, iAchieve has these tutors that can make the difference.
Also, we have both the ACT and SAT Strategies Bootcamps to offer this summer. You will learn all the essential strategies to consider when taking either exam. If you are fortunate enough, you may be able to take the ACT or SAT just one time and come away with a high score rather than having to take it over and over again as it weighs heavily on your mind and your wallet.
