Top 5 Films for Inspiring Students

We all have been there. We sit down and watch a film and feel like we can conquer the world. Movies have a way of inspiring us as nothing else does. After all, you can admit it. The first time you saw Rocky, you went out and started jogging on the streets and punching slabs of beef. Rocky inspired many to try their hand at boxing, at least. 

An excellent, motivating film about succeeding in school can have the same effect. Kids try to take their education to the next level after waking their goals by watching it on the big screen.

Whether you can show these films in a classroom probably depends on the age level of the students, but they can still view these motivating movies at home if you promote them the right way and get the kids excited about watching. 

Here are the top five films for inspiring students.

Good Will Hunting
With a superb cast, Good Will Hunting takes the viewer through a tale about a young man with unlimited potential if he would dedicate himself properly. I bet this would sound familiar to many students, parents, and teachers out there. While Matt Damon’s character is essentially a janitor at a place of higher education, the amount of knowledge he possesses could allow him to be teaching the classes there. 

Dead Poets Society
Another Robin Williams film, Dead Poets Society, shows what can happen when literature is approached differently. “Oh Captain, My Captain” is still one of the most widely recognized lines from any movie. 

Freedom Writers
This is a true story about how a young, dedicated teacher changes the lives of inner-city kids as she inspires them to pursue academic achievement more seriously. The passion for education is very evident in Freedom Writers and details precisely what may happen when students focus on accomplishing what they can to the fullest. 

Rudy
Another film based on a true story is the tale of Rudy Ruettiger, a young man who has always had the dream of playing football at the University of Notre Dame. While he never had the money, the grades, the size for football, or even the support of his family, he still achieved his goal in the end. 

Forrest Gump
It is hard to believe that Forrest Gump debuted in theaters way back in 1994. Students nowadays seem never to have sat down and watched the film about Forrest. This child was born with mental and physical disabilities and later grew into a man seemingly involved in many important moments in history. Of course, it is a fictional tale, but it shows what can happen when a person keeps trying to achieve their best.
