ART TEACHER FOR YOUNG ARTISTS CLASS
We are looking for an Art Teacher that would like to teach a 3-week class for kids ages 3-6 during the months of July-August. The class will meet twice a week for 45 minutes each session and the parents can come along and stay with the children while the class is taught. The instructor should have a strong background in art or art teaching and be able to create different art projects for kids to complete during the six different sessions. The instructor will be required to meet with the supervisor prior to teaching to go over the projects and get them approved. A budget will be given to the instructor to buy all materials.
LOCATION: Trinity Lutheran Church in Des Plaines
RESPONSIBILITIES OF ART TEACHER:
- Create at least six different art projects/activities for kids ages 3-6 to create during a 45 minute class.
- Buy all art materials with given budget.
- Teach and help assist all kids with the art projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have prior experience teaching art or experience in art education.

SUMMER INSTRUCTOR FOR MATH CLASS – MATH NINJAS
We are looking for qualified teachers who would like to teach a 3-week Math course for 8-12 year olds during the months of June and July. Our instructors need to have a strong understanding of elementary school math, they need to have leadership skills, patience, creativity, and the ambition and passion to work with young students to help strengthen their math skills in a fun, learning environment. The instructors will be required to create the curriculum for the course for about 10-12 students that will incorporate the common core standards. Instructors will design the curriculum to engage all students in a fun and meaningful manner and be able to differentiate instruction based on the different students in the class. A variety of teaching styles is highly recommended such as direct instruction, cooperative learning groups, individual work, projects, and games. Instructors will be required to meet with the supervisor prior to teaching to go over lesson plans and get them approved. Each instructor will receive a curriculum design payment.

We are looking for qualified teachers who would like to teach a 3-week Reading/Writing course for 8-12 year olds during the months of June and July. Our instructors need to have a strong understanding of elementary school reading and writing, they need to have leadership skills, patience, creativity, and the ambition and passion to work with young students to help strengthen their reading and writing skills in a fun, learning environment. The instructors will be required to create the curriculum for an 18-hour course for about 10-12 students that will incorporate the common core standards. Instructors will design the curriculum to engage all students in a fun and meaningful manner. A variety of teaching styles is highly recommended such as direct instruction, cooperative learning groups, individual work, projects, and games. Instructors will be required to meet with the supervisor prior to teaching to go over lesson plans and get them approved. A curriculum design payment will be given for the work done. SUMMER TEACHING AIDE – FOR EITHER THE MATH OR READING/WRITING COURSE
We are looking for summer teaching aides to help the summer instructors with each course. The teaching aides do not have to have a teaching certificate but need to have experience working with students or tutoring students. Our teaching aides need to assist the instructors in their teaching tasks, they need to be able to work with small groups and individual students during activities, energetic and patient. The summer teaching aides need to be available to meet with the instructors prior to the course to go over summer teaching plans.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Our Instructors need to have a teaching certificate, a bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of teaching experience. The instructor needs to feel comfortable leading a diverse group of 10-12 students and to be able to create lessons that are differentiated. Instructors should have a true passion for teaching, helping others, and should be creative, flexible, and knowledgeable in the content area.
MATH NINJAS AND READING/WRITING WIZARDS COURSE CURRICULUM
You get to design and lead your own class! The instructor will design the curriculum for the Math Ninjas course and the Reading/Writing Wizards course that will meet for 2 hours, twice a week, for a total of 3 weeks. The curriculum for the math course should focus on emphasizing the basics of mathematics for 8-12 year olds (2nd grade – 6th grade) along with the common core standards. The curriculum for the Reading/Writing Wizards course will focus on strengthening reading and writing skills for 8-12 year olds (2nd grade – 6th grade) along with the common core standards. The material should be presented in a clear and fun manner. Cooperative learning and small projects are recommended. Instructors will meet with the supervisor prior to teaching to go over lessons plans so they are approved.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF INSTRUCTOR:
- Creating the curriculum that meets the needs of each student (8-12 year olds)
- Teach in a variety of ways such as direct instruction, cooperative learning groups, one-on-one instruction, small projects, and games
- Provide structure to each class session and fully engage the students in the learning process
- Provide constructive feedback to the students
- Incorporate appropriate rules and disciplinary action when required
- Be able to meet outside of the class with the teaching aide and supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have at least a bachelor’s degree and teaching certificate
- Must have at least 2 years of teaching experience with students ages 8-12

TEACHING AIDE POSITION

The Teaching Aide will assist the Instructor in daily responsibilities and work with small groups and individual students. Teaching Aides may help in the teaching process as discussed with the Instructor. They will provide a positive learning environment, keep students on task, help with questions, and be flexible, and knowledgeable in the content area, and have enthusiasm.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with the Instructor and be able to meet outside of the class to go over lesson plans
- Follow the Instructor’s lead and help assist with group activities and individual students
- Assist with tasks such as taking attendance, passing out papers, collecting papers, etc
- Provide a positive and fun learning environment for all students
- Make sure students are safe and staying on task
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a bachelor’s degree
- Must have experience working with students or tutoring
- Must be knowledgeable about the content
