Bio:
Hi! My name is Katie Fortune and I grew up in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. I am a 7th-grade science teacher with a deep passion for making science accessible and engaging for learners of all ages. I enjoy taking complex topics and breaking them dow into digestible, relatable lessons that spark curiosity and confidence.I graduated cum laude from DePaul University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and earned a Master of Science in Biotechnology from Rush University.  Currently, I am pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching. My academic background includes neuroscience research, which honed my critical thinking and analytical skills—tools I love sharing with my students.

In addition to my work with upper-level science, I have experience with younger learners. I’ve worked as a long-term kindergarten substitute, volunteered with children’s organizations, and tutored fifth-grade students. These experiences have shaped my ability to adapt to different learning styles and developmental needs, ensuring a personalized approach for every student. My blend of real-world knowledge and teaching experience across age groups allows me to foster understanding, build confidence, and inspire a love for learning. Working with students is a privilege, and I would be honored to support your child in their educational journey.
