Ryan P.C. Trimble
Bio:
The Italian filmmaker Federico Fellini is quoted as saying, “A different language is a different vision of life.” I have to say, I agree one-hundred percent; and that idea is what motivates me to help other learn a language besides the one they were born with. A new language opens up a student’s world to music, television, books, films, cultural ideas, and meetings they would never otherwise find. I love watching people learning about all the world has to offer, and then, how they can apply that to their own lives and their own sense of self.
I grew up in North Carolina. I taught myself French in high school at the same time that I learned Spanish. Eventually, I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a double major in French Language & Film Studies and as a member of Pi Delta Phi, the National French Honor Society.
I’ve tutored since 2007—starting in high school in Raleigh, NC; continuing into college when I tutored at UNC-W’s Learning Center and privately during the summer on Long Island, New York; as well as several years of teaching high school-level French at Huntington Learning Center in Wilmington. I also lived and worked in France for six months in 2012, which improved my speaking and comprehension more than I can say (in English, at any rate).
When I’m not teaching at iAchieve Learning, you can find me selling books at a local bookstore, working on my second novel (my first, “Fragments from 5th Ave,” was published in summer 2014), or improvising with one of the several improv troupes I perform with in Chicago. There is also a very good chance I’m listening to “Beauty and the Beast” in, like, German or something. Who’s to say.
