Hi! I am a recently retired Assistant Principal and Reading Specialist who loves to inspire kids to do their best and to love READING! I grew up in Schiller Park and worked in the same school district for 33 years. I began my career teaching kindergarten for 7 years and looped with my class to 2nd grade. Team teaching for 3 years from 1st-3rd grade with two of the best classes ever. From there I moved into a Reading Specialist position and then took on the Assistant Principal role until retirement! My belief is that relationships are key for a student to learn and will only succeed if students have the confidence and trust in their teacher!
I am a proud mom of two girls and a new son in law. Rachel is recently married and works in the Graduate Admissions Office while taking classes towards her Masters at Northwestern University. Niki just received her Masters Degree in Speech Pathology at St. Ambrose University. She is teaching at a dance studio while she waits for her dream job. Luckily for me both of my girls enjoyed playing sports and I loved the time I spent coaching their soccer and softball teams.
Growing up with six nieces and nephews there were always little ones in my family and I enjoyed every minute I was with them. I knew I wanted to be a teacher at a young age. My favorite part was watching them get excited when they finally could do something on their own. I have worked with students from kindergarten to 5th grade but am open to any age level for reading and writing.
Summer is my favorite season and I enjoy being out in the sun gardening, playing golf, relaxing in a pool, and playing with my dogs Dryfus and Andie. Fall is for watching football, especially the Chicago Bears, which is my favorite team! GO BEARS! Green Bay fans might want to find another tutor! (Just kidding!)
